Esemény leírása

IAEA Nuclear Data Section (NDS) has developed and provided various nuclear data tools for nuclear sciences and applications since 1964. There are both professional physicists and software engineers in NDS, and has continuously worked together for better access to nuclear data. I will briefly introduce two major tools - LiveChart of  Nuclides and EXFOR to which there are important contributions from ATOMKI researchers.

Present status and perspectives of superheavy element (SHE) researches using the GAs-filled Recoil Ion Separator GARIS at RIKEN are reviewed. We have been developing a gas-jet transport system coupled to GARIS as a novel technique for SHE chemistry. The isotopes of 261Rf (atomic number Z = 104), 262Db (Z = 105), and 265Sg (Z = 106) useful for chemistry studies were produced in the 248Cm(18O,5n), 248Cm(19F,5n), and 248Cm(22Ne,5n) reactions, respectively, and they were extracted to a chemistry laboratory by the gas-jet method after the separation by GARIS. The production and decay properties of those isotopes were investigated in detail for future chemistry studies using a rotating wheel apparatus for alpha- and SF spectrometry. Recently, the chemical synthesis and gas-chromatographic analysis of the first organometallic compound of SHEs, Sg(CO)6, were successfully conducted with the preseparated 265Sg.  After the observation of the third decay chain of element 113, 278113, in the cold fusion reaction of 209Bi(70Zn,n)278113, we started syntheses of the heavier SHEs by hot fusion reactions. As the first step, the isotopes of element 116, 292,293Lv, were produced in the 248Cm(48Ca,xn)296-xLv reactions to confirm those observed at Dubna and GSI. In 2015, the 248Cm(50Ti,xn)298-x118 reactions are planned to be studied.
